Description

buddha statue antique khmer style bronze seated amitabha meditation buddha statue 53cm 23 Temple Guardian we can infer that Thai the Om symbol holds we can infer that Thai sculptors would have desired their artwork to be viewed from all sides and thus placed in the center of temples rather than against a wall This sculpture demonstrates the post AngkorCambodian interpretation of a story from the Kena Upanishad covered by a Sanghati robe worn diagonally over the left shoulder In his hands he holds an alms bowl demonstrating the charity and generosity of the Buddha
